How’s this thing work anyways?…
I make these figurines myself… with the help of my magician frog, of course.
PREORDERS
Some figurines are preorders, limited to a two week sales run, meaning at the end of the sales period, I’ll know just how many to make. After the sales period, work can begin!
MATERIALS
Figurines contain silicone, plaster, acrylic paint, and sometimes glitter and acrylic fiber. These figurines are made with silicone and acrylic paints that are NOT food safe. Please don’t lick them and don’t put them in your aquariums, unless you want dead fish.
BASE
The figurines start with my own bases, then they are posed to fit what the creator wants. I use blender for the whole design process!
SCULPTING
Next are the fine details. Now the figurine looks closer to the final product. With some more inputs from the creator, the last details are added and coloured.
Casting
The mold is made, printed with a 3d printer, then polished and waxed so silicone can be cast inside to make the squishy parts of the figurine. All the flashing lines are cut and glued over.
Painting
Paint is airbrushed with custom stencils, layer by layer, until the paint-job is done. Then one last brushing of clear silicone onto the figurines so they are fully sealed and glistening.
Gluing
Lastly, the pieces are glued together. They’ll sit for a while before they are shipped so that the vapours can begin to evaporate.
